Broncos use strong fourth quarter to beat Zips, 69-65

The University of Akron women’s basketball team was outscored by the Western Michigan Broncos 27-10 in the fourth quarter to lose 69-65 on Saturday in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The Zips fell to 12-11 on the season and 6-6 in the conference while Western Michigan improved to 15-10 and 7-6 in the MAC.

Diandra Gibson and Hannah Plybon led the Zips, who were without leading scorer Anita Brown. Gibson scored 18 points with five rebounds and two blocked shots, while Plybon also had 18 points with five rebounds and four 3-pointers. Also, Alex Ricketts scored 12 points with a game-high 12 rebounds, Megan Sefcik finished with eight points and Greta Burry added six points.
