PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The University of Akron women's tennis team completed the final day of action at the Nishan Vartabedian Spring Invitational on Sunday against the hosting Pitt Panthers at the Alpha Tennis Center.
The Zips dropped six singles matches, but were competitive throughout.
At No. 3 doubles, sophomores Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) and Carli Knezevich (Austin, Texas) earned Akron's lone victory after overpowering Pittsburgh's Audrey Blakely and Gabriela Rezende, 6-1.
"We continued to show progress today against what was the best team we faced all weekend," said head coach Brandon Padgett.
