Brewer started the season third on the depth chart but finished the year as the Bears' starter due to injuries. Brewer led Baylor to its only victory of the season, against Kansas, and finished the year first on the team in passing yards (1,562), touchdowns (11) and completion percentage (68.1).

Mims started the year as the Bears' No. 2 wide receiver option but ended up being the main target in the passing games due to injuries. Mims received All-Big 12 second-team honors as he finished the year with 61 catches for 1,087 yards and eight touchdowns.
