Should NCAA tournament expand to 96 teams? Baylor coach Scott Drew thinks so

Since expanding to 64 teams in 1985, the NCAA tournament has pretty stood pat, with just two small additions.

Baylor coach Scott Drew has done the math and thinks it’s time for the NCAA tournament to have another growth spurt - to 96 teams.

About 60 percent of FBS teams play in bowl games, Drew noted, while the current 68-team field represents 19 percent of the Division I men’s basketball teams

“If you interviewed all the past players who had a chance to play in it, I’m sure that is one of biggest highlights in college,” Drew said, noting the logistics.
