Letter: Advertisement published in Tribune is offensive

Does The Tribune consider the appropriateness/objectionability of ad content? If so, can we talk about “Senorita Makita” in the quarter-page M & M Tool and Machinery ad on A7 of the Sept. 6 Tribune?

Better yet, maybe we don’t even have to talk about it. Maybe that one just slipped by, somehow, and upon a closer look, you can see that the ad, featuring the senorita in a tight work-romper unzipped to her cleavage, with shorty-shorts that end at the bottom of her tool-belt, and high-heel work boots, is an affront on a whole bunch of levels. (For this publication, that is — this image would be appropriate for a men’s magazine or other publication that people who don’t mind seeing sexist and racist images choose to pay money for.
