The Bears could shift all-pro left guard Joe Thuney to left tackle Sunday to protect Caleb Williams’ blindside against the Rams’ pass rush.
A source confirmed late Saturday the Bears have considered the move, which would have Thuney fill in for Ozzy Trapilo, who was lost for the season with a knee injury a week ago. Theo Benedet, who started eight games this year, took his place in the eventual 31-27 win against the Packers. The Bears promoted Braxton Jones from injured reserve earlier in the week, but the veteran hasn’t started since Week 4.
