Colorado Rapids Soccer Club today selected former San Jose Earthquakes wingback Kip Colvey with the third overall pick of the 2017 MLS Waiver Draft. The versatile defender, who can play on both the left and right side, will be added to the club’s supplemental roster.
Colvey signed with the Earthquakes on March 4, 2016 after being picked in the third round (49th overall) of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
The 23-year-old wingback spent the 2017 campaign on loan with USL side Reno 1868 FC, appearing in 10 contests – all starts. In his rookie season in 2016, Colvey played in four regular season matches (three starts) for the Quakes, tallying an assist in his first professional start.
