Packers may have quietly just solved their Malik Willis problem

The Green Bay Packers ostensibly understand that backup quarterback Malik Willis, who's entering unrestricted free agency this offseason, has earned the opportunity to start elsewhere. That's why the team has wasted no time replenishing the NFL's most important position by signing Kyle McCord to a reserve/future contract.

McCord finished his rookie campaign on the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad, the club he was drafted by in the sixth round of the 2025 draft. However, league rules allowed him and the Packers to join forces, and the timing couldn't be much better for Green Bay.

With Willis already connected to multiple non-Packers suitors, McCord could accidentally become important at work, though Green Bay may have found its next hidden gem.
