BATON ROUGE – Senior forward Alayshia Hunter won the vote of Louisiana Sports Writers Association members for the state's women’s basketball player of the week. It is her first time earning such distinction from the LSWA, and it comes on the heels of her first career Sun Belt Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hunter had a career-high 28 points (11-for-14 from the field) at McNeese State on Wednesday and also pulled down 12 rebounds. She followed that up with 13 points in 20 minutes against LSU-Alexandria in the Warhawks' final non-conference game.
She shot 76.2 percent (16-for-21) from the field for the week and had five blocks, giving her seven multi-swat outings in 10 contests.
