With just five players the tennis team defeated Appalachian State 4-3 in the opening round of the Sun Belt Championships.
Coach Terrence De Jongh was pleased with the way his team battled as stated in a press release.
“It was definitely a tough match coming in with five players. But the girls fought. I think the girls can perform even better,” Joghn said.
The difference for the Warhawks came in doubles, where one of the three matches was forfeited due to the small game roster.
The Tiffany Mylonas/Luana Stanciu and Ioana Popescu/Patricia Villar tandems each picked up for each other with 6-2 and 7-6 ,7-5 wins there to start ULM off on the right foot.
