We are just nine sleeps away from one of the most highly anticipated New Jersey Devils’ season openers in recent memory. It’s a clean slate from last season’s disaster.
Everything happens for a reason. We all thought the Devils were taking a step forward last year from that exhilarating 2017-18 season, but it wasn’t in the cards. It allowed New Jersey to have its best offseason in team history, and quite possibly the best summer in the NHL this year.
The expectations are there, but expectations don’t matter once the puck is dropped. The NHL regular season is an 82-game odyssey, and teams have to be truly great to make the postseason.
