New York Mets 3B David Wright will play in a minor-league game on Monday with hopes of making his spring training debut soon -- possibly next week, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.
Wright was limited to 38 games last season as he battled spinal stenosis. The earliest he can debut in a Grapefruit League game is Thursday, according to DiComo.
The 33-year-old Wright still expects to be ready for Opening Day, although last week he said in late February he was behind schedule. He has said he needs to be more "honest" with how he feels so he does not get injured again this season.
