Old Dominion won four of the first seven bouts, but No. 6 North Carolina State closed the match with three straight bonus point wins to defeat the Monarchs 25-15 in nonconference wrestling Thursday night at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack secured the dual with back-to-back technical falls at 184 and 197 pounds and a major decision at heavyweight.
Monarchs winners: Michael McGee at 125 pounds, former Cox star Caleb Richardson (133), Kenan Carter (149) and Oscar Smith alum Seldon Wright (174).
Wright scored a major decision, beating Sam Melikian 16-6.
“This was the best he has competed this year,” Monarchs coach Steve Martin said of Wright.
