When Major League Soccer announced they intended to invoke a Force Majure clause to renegotiate the recently-approved Collective Bargaining Agreement, fears of a work stoppage ahead of the 2021 season increased significantly. However based on the ask from the owners, those fears appear to have been at least reduced — for now.
According to a report from Yahoo Sports, the league will not ask the players to take any additional reduction on salaries, but instead want to increase the duration of the current deal by two years. They also want to extend the current salary-cap freeze through 2022.
