SMU failed to make a bowl this season, but the Mustangs showed plenty of improvement in Chad Morris' second year with the program.
Here are five players who exceeded expectations this season.
1. RB Braeden West -- After starter Xavier Jones went down with an injury early in the season, West broke through with a team-high 1,085 yards and six touchdowns. West proved that he is more than a scat back and should figure to be a big part of the offense over the next couple of years.
