National writer: No one has made a bigger impact on a program's image than SMU's Larry Brown

Larry Brown has done wonders at SMU.

Before Brown arrived at SMU, it had won more than 21 games in a season just once since 1984-85, and it had not been to the NCAA tournament since 1993. Not since 1957 had the Mustangs been ranked in the final Associated Press poll, and they had only one winning season in the nine seasons immediately before Brown's hiring.

All that changed when the Hall of Famer arrived on the Hilltop. SMU has posted back-to-back-to-back 25-win seasons, made the NCAA tournament two years ago and was ranked in AP poll for most of the 2016 season.
