TULSA, OKLA -- SMU redshirt freshman WR Alex Honey, mentored by Courtland Sutton in spring, looked a lot like Sutton on his first career catch. He caught Ben Hicks' pass and raced down the sideline for a 45-yard touchdown and 14-3 first-quarter lead.
Mustangs freshman Ke'Mon Freemon recorded the first touchdown of his career, opening the scoring with a 2-yard run.
The Mustangs were without offensive lineman Nick Natour (ankle), but got much needed relief with the return of Daniel McCarty from injury.
