Even without Hall of Famer Larry Brown, SMU basketball is still making an impact on the recruiting trail.
On Tuesday, the Mustangs landed a verbal commitment from three-star Tulsa Central (OK) point guard Elijah Landrum.
He announced his pledge via Twitter.
Landrum committed to SMU over offers from Florida International, Houston, Texas Tech, Tulsa, VCU and a handful of others.
At 6-foot, 170 pounds, Landrum is ranked as the No. 45 point guard in the country and No. 4 overall prospect in Oklahoma, according to 247Sports Composite.
Landrum is the first verbal commit in the 2017 class and first in the Tim Jankovich era at SMU.
