The SMU and North Texas rivalry will continue beyond this decade.
The two DFW programs agreed to a four-year extension, SMU announced on Monday afternoon.

SMU and North Texas have played 35 times since 1922.
The game was dubbed as the "Safeway Bowl" in the 90s, thanks to this statement form UNT head coach Matt Simon after a two-year break: "I'd like to play because I think we could beat them, and my players feel the same way.
