All season, former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes played hero for the Kansas City Chiefs leading his team to the AFC Championship Game by piloting the NFL’s top-rated offense. The MVP favorite helped guide his team to 425.6 yards and 35.3 points per game, both tops in the league.
But Kansas City needed every yard and point they could muster this year to cover for an atrocious defense. The Chiefs ranked 31st out of 32 teams in total defense giving up 405.5 yards per game.
And Sunday, it was that porous defense that cost the Chiefs a trip to the Super Bowl.
