The 2023 college baseball season was a four-month job interview for University of Toledo shortstop Jeron Williams.
The employer curious about his skills were Major League Baseball’s 30 franchises, and they came away awfully impressed. On Monday (or Tuesday), the Archbold native will find out what and where is next during the 20-round MLB draft.
“I’m anxious [and] excited, and I’m probably going to be on edge a little bit,” Williams said.
The modesty is understood, but Williams has nothing to fear. His name will be called. Toledo coach Rob Reinstettle declared the 6-foot-1, 180-pound blur a top-10-round draft pick.
