A Providence man is dead and another is seriously injured after a collision in North Stonington Monday, state police said.
According to the police, the crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Pendleton Hill Road, near the on-ramp to I-95 at Exit 92. Ryan Peter Poland’s 2006 Honda Civic was headed north, and a 1995 GMC Safari driven by James Pont was traveling south when the two vehicles collided.
Poland, 39, of North Providence, R.I. was taken to Westerly Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Pont, 59, of Ashaway, R.I., was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for injuries that police said appeared serious.
