Five takeaways from the UNLV basketball team's 79-74 loss at Air Force on Tuesday:
1. It's been known for weeks the season comes down to the Mountain West tournament next month, but the Rebels are showing little evidence they will make any kind of run. And now they almost certainly will be stuck playing the extra day rather than getting a bye into the quarterfinals. Hard to find any positives out of this season.
2. To make a run in the conference tournament will require enormous effort. That didn't happen against the Falcons. UNLV didn't seriously take the team it beat by 36 points a month earlier.
