1. Patrick McCaw is smart — when he wants to be. The sophomore guard who hit the big 3-point shot at the buzzer at the end of regulation to force overtime knew the old basketball adage about time-and-score and his calculations proved correct. He covered a lot of ground in three seconds and got a golden look. He also had 18 rebounds in addition to his 25 points as he knew with Dwayne Morgan unavailable that as a guard he was expected to pick up some of the slack on the boards.
2. Jordan Cornish redeemed himself. The sophomore was having a horrible shooting night before overtime brought out the best in him.
