When 41-year-old Kanequa Chancellor died in a plane crash near Hatch, N.M. on Sunday, she was two decades removed from her days as a women's basketball star at UTEP.
The direct connections she had to the program had all moved on.
That doesn't change this: Chancellor will always be a Miner.
Chancellor, who played at UTEP in the 1990s, died along with Anthony Deramus, 57, of El Paso; Christopher Howell, 33, of El Paso; and Malcolm Watkins, 25, who recently moved to the city from Waxahachie, Texas.
