By that point, the Marquette University Golden Eagles were shooting about 87 percent in the second half and in the process of burying an out-manned and out-gunned Xavier men's basketball team (18-12, 8-9 Big East).
Marquette (18-11, 9-8) took a convincing 12-point lead into halftime and continued their offensive bludgeoning over the final 20 minutes. The Golden Eagles went on to win, 95-84, and took sole possession of sixth place in the Big East Conference.
