Xavier basketball's home game against East Tennessee State University was the perfect upset cocktail – until it wasn't.
The No. 10-ranked Musketeers (10-1) pulled out an epic, 22-point comeback and held on to defeat the ETSU Buccaneers, 68-66.
A lively and engaged standing-room Cintas Center crowd of 10,432 attended.
As likely evidence of Xavier coming out of exam week and practicing just twice in the past week, the Musketeers shot around 25 percent for most of the game and trailed the Buccaneers by a game-high 22 points at the 14:25 mark in the second half.
But Xavier steadily chipped away, tightened up on defense and pulled to within three points with less than three minutes to play.
