No. 8 Xavier routs Georgetown, 88-70

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It was payback, all right.

No. 8 Xavier showed just how much its Jan. 19 loss to Georgetown lingered when the teams met again Saturday at the Verizon Center. The Musketeers blew out the Hoyas 88-70 and avenged their only home defeat this season.

Edmond Sumner dazzled with a career-high 22 points and skidding Georgetown was ill-equipped to handle an opponent that made 11 of its first 12 second-half shots. James Farr scored 14 points, Trevon Bluiett added 13 and J.P. Macura chipped in 12 to keep the Musketeers rolling.

Georgetown played one of its best games in the 81-72 win at Cintas Center but Xavier (24-3, 12-3 Big East) had the last word with a balanced attack and better defense.
