Xavier commit Quentin Goodin has been named one of the nation's top prep basketball players as the Gatorade Player of the Year in Kentucky.
According to Gatorade's rundown, the Taylor County point guard was selected for these reasons:
Athletic achievement: He has led the Cardinals to a 24-8 record entering the state postseason Sweet Sixteen, scheduled to begin March 17. A returning First Team All-State selection as named by the Associated Press, Goodin averaged 23.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.9 steals through 32 games.
