INDIANAPOLIS – Xavier men's basketball is halfway to what would unquestionably be its biggest win of 2016-17.
The No. 15 Musketeers (13-3, 3-1 Big East) took it to host and No. 12-ranked Butler University (14-3, 3-2 Big East) in the first half Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Xavier used a 13-5 run over the closing minutes of the half to take a 31-26 halftime lead Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Senior transfer forward RaShid Gaston led the way for Xavier, scoring seven points in the period on 3 of 3 shooting from the field. Junior guard Trevon Bluiett and senior transfer Malcolm Bernard also finished the period with seven points.
