Xavier men's basketball remains a work in progress, but the team was plenty strong enough to win comfortably against the University of Buffalo Bulls.
A tightly-officiated, foul-laden game saw Xavier (2-0) continue non-conference play with an 86-53 victory against the unranked Bulls (1-1) of the Mid-American Conference.
The teams combined for 59 fouls, and Buffalo's 38 fouls were the most by a Xavier opponent since 1998, according to the Xavier athletic department. As a result, neither side ever really found a rhythm, but Xavier found the closest thing to it.
After a scoreless 2:43 to start the game, Xavier redshirt sophomore guard Edmond Sumner scored the opening basket and Xavier didn't look back.
