Xavier trailing Georgetown at half, 38-36

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Absent junior guard Trevon Bluiett's typical offensive contributions, junior guard J.P. Macura took charge for Xavier men's basketball in the first half against Georgetown University. That wasn't enough to hold off the Hoyas, however.

The No. 17-ranked Musketeers (11-2, 1-0 Big East) went to half trailing 38-36 to Georgetown (8-5, 0-1 Big East) Saturday morning at Verizon Center.

Macura went for a team-high 15 points in the half on 4 of 9 shooting. Macura attacked the basket from the opening whistle through the final buzzer, making multiple trips to the free-throw line where he was 6-for-7 shooting.
