Big East men's basketball coaches voted Xavier sophomore J.P. Macura as the league's top player off the bench.
The 6-foot-5 guard on Monday earned the league's Sixth Man Award for his hustle and impact. Macura has averaged 9.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in the Musketeers' record-setting regular season (26-4, 14-4 Big East) and is a key cog moving forward.
His clutch shooting, particularly from the 3-point line, has provided the team with crucial lifts. Although coach Chris Mack wanted a timeout late in the January game at Providence, Xavier's lead down to three, Macura buried a triple that paved the way for the 75-68 victory.
