Xavier's Shane Crutchfield made history Sunday by becoming the Big East women's golf champion.

The individual title marks the first conference championship for a women's golfer in program annals as well as the first title of Crutchfield's college career. The senior secured an automatic bid to the NCAA regional, another first in program history.

Crutchfield shot par or under on 16 holes during the final round of the conference tournament. She entered Sunday in second place with a score of 147 (+3) through two rounds at the Callawassie Island Golf Club in South Carolina.

Crutchfield overtook Mackenzie Boydston's (Georgetown) two-stroke lead after shooting even-par on eight of the first nine holes to enter the back nine in a tie for first.
